Hi, I’m Sunil.

I like turning new infrastructure primitives into products and abstractions that people can understand, adopt, and build on. My work has moved between user interfaces, open-source frameworks, developer platforms, stateful distributed systems, and durable infrastructure for AI agents.

These days I’m a principal systems engineer at Cloudflare, working on agents and long-running AI systems. Before that I founded PartyKit, which Cloudflare acquired in 2024. Further back, I worked on the React core team, led developer tooling for Cloudflare Workers, built social VR at Oculus, and made a fair amount of web infrastructure along the way.

The thread through all of it is an interest in how a powerful technical idea becomes a useful thing: the API, the interface, the explanation, and the bit of taste that makes it cohere.

This site is less a record of employment and more a working notebook. I write about software and systems, but also about tools, judgment, and what happens to a craft when its materials change.

Away from computers, I like playing guitars, taking long walks, and cooking for people.
